Hi, I’m Jamie, and I’m very pleased to be the new Project Wrangler for Mangorolla. I’ll be working on the I’m a… projects, making sure they’re working the best that they can for teachers, students, scientists, and the wonderful funders that enable us to do what we do.
I graduated from Durham University in 2008 with a master’s degree in physics and astronomy. Since then I’ve been working to inspire and educate school children about science, technology, engineering, and maths: first at the National Space Centre, then as a secondary school teacher, and most recently at Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre.
At Jodrell Bank I managed the schools programme, which reached over 25,000 school children each year, from ages 3 to 18. I learnt a lot about planning, project management, and managing a team, as well as fun things like how to set fire to a bank note (without burning it), and how to launch rockets with various explosives. A highlight was contributing to the organisation and running of the Bluedot science and music festival in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
I’m really excited about being a part of the team and getting to work on the nationally recognised I’m a… projects, which I’ve heard so much about over the years!
In my spare time (when not in the middle of a global pandemic) I like to get involved in amateur dramatics, as well as competitive ballroom and Latin dancing.
